The aim in this ‘introduction to meditation and mindfulness’ is to give you some simple and effective tools and techniques so that you can easily make this practice part of your daily routine.
Every morning we get up and run through a ritual to prepare our physical appearance to venture out into the day. But what do we do to prepare our mind? Our external social mask is complete and yet we’ve done nothing to mentally prepare ourselves for the day ahead.
When we’re living by ‘cause and effect’ we’re allowing everything and everyone in our environment to determine how we think and feel. However, when we learn to become consciously aware and we practice how to focus in the present moment using the breath and mindfulness, we can begin to choose our thoughts more carefully and as result we become the master of how we’re feeling. And of course, every great person in history knew this. Learning how to think greater than how we feel is a skill that can shift any area of your life.
Once meditation becomes a daily ritual, we learn to take our awareness inwards and for a dedicated period of time we work on our inner state. Thoughts start to slow down, our awareness expands, the physiology calms and the mind and body start to work coherently. Essentially, we are expanding, healing and growing from the inside out. So rather than always taking things from our external world in an attempt to feel calm, peaceful, and focused, we’re using meditation. Commit to this practice and you will be nurturing your highest self and feeding others from an abundant overflow.
